no one will understand wad 'coc alpha' means other than ppl from my unit. but anyways. i finally coced alpha. which also means sat i kena duty. tot i'll be lucky enough to skip my duty and go for my ocs steamboat outing. but damn it!!! knnccb. sucks.... another weekend burnt.
its been more than 3 weeks since i set foot here. alot of things happened. bad, good, fun, sian, happening, sucks, wadever. so many things to talk abt but so tired to type all of them out.
i jus passed by RHIB course. which stands for rubber hull inflatable boats, kinda looks like the rubber duckies u have in ur bath tub. jus picture a much bigger one. 5 days in the sun reli killed me man. left my face looking like a tomato less the white patches under my shades. looks like a panda on negative film.
i was invited for a cocktail party on board a french ship berthed at changi on wed. well, more like self invited haha. but it was an eye opener for me. got to see some new stuff and had a taste of some good french champagne haha. the french ship is so clean man. everything inside is so white. spore's ship is very yellow inside. not nice. the only disappointment was that it was pretty hot on deck and the lack of ppl a 2lt(smallest fry on board) could talk to. feel like going for more of this kind of cocktail parties, pretty fun.
did duty last night. crazy shag. after rhib course go for duty, then next morning rhib course test. whoa. no slp. can die. but i had a talk with one of the senior officers on duty that night. he was from tuas, and looked like a scholar judging from the way he talked and the topics he talked abt to me. and judging from he looked pretty young for a ltc.
he talked abt this disease called connectivity and how it is affecting the ppl now. and brought up some surprisingly interesting topics with regard to the topic for a regular. i'm not saying regular stupid, but he's one of the smartest i've met, or talked to.... =p i wrote a pretty long essay on this topic for gp before and got a 38, so i guess i got some stuff up my sleeves too. and talked with him for quite a while that night on duty. he din manage to stick totally to connectivity and difted more towards technology. apart from all his old school stories abt jioing girls without msn and sms and all the stuff.
one of the things he mentioned was about cds replacing cassette tapes. he said that last time, it was hard to find pirated cassettes and they were expensive. and they were forced to listen to the entire tape cos its troublesome to fast forward/rewind the tapes. so during their time, they had to reli choose the cassettes that are close to their hearts. when they listen to cassettes, they are reli close to the music and will appreciate the entire album.
but nowadays, we all listen to cd and download tonnes of music. its not uncommon for us to have thousands of songs on our library. and its so convenient to simply skip the song u dun reli like and go on to the next song. it kinda struck me cos i'm so the new age kinda of person he was referring to. i have 4000++ songs in my itunes. and crazy number of albums. there are jus so many songs and i hardly even listen to some of the songs in my library.
it wasnt long before when i still bother to digest every album i buy. listen to the full thing multiple times to uncover the msg the artiste is trying to drive across with the album. in jus a couple of years i can feel myself changing. i dun have time to digest through ablums anymoe. no time to jus purely listen to some good music.
its quite sad. i guess most of u are probably the same. when is the last time u bought a album, sat down, and do nothing but close ur eyes and listening thru the entire album a couple of times to digest it? i think the only person who does it regualrly still is probably gerbert.
the point i'm trying to point out is not jus listening to music. but in the bigger picture, is all these new technology making our lives better? more substantial? with all the online chat rooms and sms when is the last time u asked a girl out and tell her u like her in the face? when is the last time u and a couple of frens sat together and discuss abt the show on channel 8 when so many ppl watch cable and vcd now?
okay i'm pretty sure i have lost all of u by now. i'm pretty lost myself too...... no more...
end
